what kind of art can I see at Longwood Center for the Visual Arts?

Since the late 19th century, Longwood has been devoted to preserving and promoting the works of Virginia artists, as well as art from around the world. Today’s permanent collections include Virginia artists, folk, decorative, American and contemporary art, alongside an African art collection and select pieces from China. Besides the art found at LCVA’s galleries on Third and Main streets in Farmville, you can also find pieces displayed throughout the Longwood campus.

Longwood Center for the Visual Arts offers a variety of events and activities throughout the year. The Winter Gala and Beaux-Arts Bash are two great fundraisers supporting the local community. Art After Dark is a fun way to engage and learn about local art through interactive, hands-on activities. The Cabin Film Series screens cult classic films throughout the year. Wine and Brew lets you explore the museum after hours, and a variety of children’s programs throughout the year introduce kids of all ages to local and global artworks.
