After losing nearly a quarter of his army during an intense battle here, Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrendered at the Appomattox Court House just 72 hours after his loss to Yankee troops. Today you can learn more about the battle on an interpretive driving tour, hike, picnic and enjoy nature programs in this 341 acre park. The park is handicap accessible and has a gift shop.
Hours -Dawn until dusk. Visitor center, 10 AM to 5 PM Monday through Saturday, Noon to 5 PM on Sunday.
